Accreditation
St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph has received Accreditation Canada’s highest award – Exemplary Standing!
In October 2022, we received our updated Accreditation Canada report and designation “Accredited with Exemplary Standing”. This means SJHCG has attained the highest level of performance, achieving excellence in meeting the requirements of the accreditation program. We met 100% of the required organizational practices and 98.7% of the nearly 850 standard set criteria.
The surveyors reviewed practices, quality improvement initiatives, and standards in the following areas:
- Community Health Services
- Leadership
- Infection Prevention and Control
- Long-Term Care Services
- Medication Management
- Rehabilitation Services
- Governance
The surveyor team applauded SJHCG for preparing for and participating in the accreditation program, especially during a pandemic. They observed that the staff team was engaged, responsive, and curious throughout the survey process. The surveyors also noted that residents, clients, and families report receiving a deep level of care and compassion from healthcare providers at SJHCG. They acknowledged efforts to keep the buildings clean and well-maintained.
Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit, independent organization that provides national and international health and social service organizations with a voluntary, external peer review to assess the quality of their services based on standards of excellence.
Our next Accreditation Canada full on-site survey will take place in 2026.
