St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph continues to take proactive steps to protect the safety of staff and clients.

We are working closely with Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health to implement recommendations. COVID-19 is a rapidly changing situation and our response to COVID-19 is fluid so we can adapt quickly as circumstances change. Our well-established protocols for infection prevention and control include regular training for staff on safety protocols that include the types of precautions required to care for people with infectious illnesses.

Screening Measures and Precautions

Upon entering the building, all staff must answer a series of questions and undergo a temperature reading. Staff who pass this two-step screening process receive a mask that they must wear throughout their shift. In addition, SJHCG also has personal protective equipment, such as gowns, masks, gloves and face shields for staff providing direct care. When staff exit the building, they discard their procedure mask and have their temperature taken.

Protecting Privacy and Confidentiality

We are committed to protecting the privacy of our clients and staff. We cannot share personal information, including names, of anyone else who may be experiencing symptoms of illness or who may have tested positive for COVID-19. We do this out of respect for everyone’s right to privacy, whether the individual is a staff member, patient or resident. We will connect with the family right away if there is any issue that affects their loved one.
