Meet Sharon
Sharon is one of the many skilled and caring staff you will meet at St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph (SJHCG). Working at SJHCG for more than 37 years, she is also one of our longest-standing team members.
As a Respiratory Therapist and Coordinator of the COPD/Pulmonary Rehab program, Sharon works with clients and families to help manage their chronic respiratory condition.
“I love working with patients and their families. They come to St. Joe’s not knowing how to manage their condition and they leave with a renewed sense of confidence, more independence and less anxiety,” says Sharon. “But, it’s not just about the patient, we support the caregiver as well. Chronic disease can lead to depression and it’s important that caregivers also have the education they need to support the patient in the home.”
Sharon attributes her long career at SJHCG to the amazing people she works with. “The culture here is incredibly supportive. We are a multi-disciplinary team and we leverage one-another’s skills by bouncing ideas off each other. This makes for a really collaborative environment. We are all committed to working with each other and with our community partners to help patients. That’s really what this is all about, helping patients.”
Sharon is also a Respiratory Therapist at Guelph General Hospital.
