About Our Volunteer Program

St. Joseph’s Health Centre offers both adult and teen volunteer programs. Each provide an opportunity to meet new people, develop new skills, explore different career options and assist in our community.

The adult and teen programs include:

Retail volunteers serve residents, patients, family members, staff and visitors in our Silver Maple Coffee and Gift Shop and in the Hair Care Place.

Activities volunteers help our residents and participants with the broad range of activities provided by our Recreation, Horticultural, Music, Speech/Language Pathology, Rehabilitation Services, and our Community Outreach Programs. They also assist with early morning coffee hour, church services, sing-alongs and many seasonal events such as ice cream socials and harvest festival.

Neighbourhood volunteers work in one of our neighbourhoods, enhancing the residents’ and patients’ quality of life by visiting with them, taking them for a walk in the outdoor garden area, reading to them, or playing a board game with them. They also have the option of becoming part of our Cum Pano program and assist a resident who needs help to eat during meal time.

Teen Volunteer Program

St. Joseph’s Health Centre offers several opportunities for teen volunteers between the ages of 14 and 18.  We require a minimum 6 month commitment.
