Visitors

St. Joseph’s Health Centre welcomes and encourages visits from the family and friends of our residents. Community visitors are welcome at any time and we have provided private or ‘quiet’ space to make such visits more enjoyable.

Here are some of the steps we have taken to accommodate our visitors:
  • Our bedrooms have been designed to allow for privacy.
  • Each neighbourhood has a living room that residents may use to relax and visit with others.
  • There are small sitting areas at the end of each neighbourhood corridor where residents can stop, chat and enjoy a hand-quilted mural or glassed wall display.
  • Each neighbourhood has a communal diningroom; however, residents can be seated at an individual table to enjoy a meal or snack with family and friends.
  • There are open-air balconies that can be accessed on the second, third, and fourth levels of the building.
  • The Family Diningroom (located on Level One) is available for special events such as birthdays or holiday celebrations. This room is equipped with a kitchen and dining/living space, a small area for coats, and a washroom. Meals may be brought in or prepared on-site. To book this room for a special occasion, please call ext. 4412.

The Family Quiet Room (located on Level One) is offered to families and close friends of our patients or residents who are imminently dying.  This space gives families and close friends the opportunity to stay nearby their loved one, particularly if the family is from out of town.  This space is equipped with a couch that pulls out into a double bed.  There is an adjoining washroom with shower facilities.

There are areas which residents and their visitors are welcome to enjoy. They include: the Resident Library, the Enabling Garden (with gazebo), the front courtyard, sitting areas in the Town Square (lobby) or North Wing lobby, the Silver Maple Coffee and Gift Shop and the Oasis Pub.
