Residents' Council

res_council.jpgThe Residents’ Council meets to discuss issues that relate to the residents' and patients' quality of life at St. Joseph's.

Participants, which include representatives from long-term care, and complex continuing care as well as one family representative from each program, raise concerns and/or make recommendations for changes to policies or services that affect residents and patients.

The Council works continuously with staff and administration to explore ways of improving the services St. Joseph's provides.

The Residents’ Council meets on a monthly basis from September to June and all residents are welcome to attend. The minutes of each meeting are posted on bulletin boards in each living area and include the names of the various council representatives. Council members also organize and host regular Open Forums for residents and families where issues related to long-term care and complex continuing care can be discussed.

Family Council

The current Family Council began in April 2005 and meets each month. It includes family representatives from each of the neighborhoods in long-term care, complex continuing care and rehabilitation. Members' contact information is posted for families in each neighborhood so that they can identify their respective representative.

The Family Council provides family members with the opportunity to express ideas and concerns regarding resident and patient care to the administration of St. Joseph’s and to work together for positive change. The goals of the Family Council include obtaining information from families regarding resident and patient care needs and supporting family members by informing and educating them about the services that St. Joseph’s provides.
