Accreditation

In 2012, St. Joseph's was awarded Accreditation with Exemplary Standing, the highest award level possible by Accreditation Canada.

St. Joseph's volunteers to be reviewed by Accreditation Canada as a good means of assessing our performance according to best practices in our areas of service.  Measured against more than 670 different standards, St. Joseph's attained a score of 98.6 - one of the highest in the province.  The reviewers made particular note of St. Joseph's dedication to providing compassionate care and our leadership in developing the next generation of care givers.

The surveyors reviewed practices, quality improvement initiatives and standards in the following areas:
  • Community
  • Health complex
  • Continuing care
  • Leadership
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Long-term care
  • Medication management
  • Rehabilitation
  • Governance

Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit, independent organization that provides national and international health and social service organizations with a voluntary, external peer review to assess the
quality of their services based on standards of excellence.
